The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream position at the interface of environmental chemistry and health sciences. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2026.
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Chemistry or a closely related field by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, and a minimum of one-year postdoctoral experience or equivalent, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests will expand and complement our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level; to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded independent research program; and to contribute to the enrichment of both undergraduate and graduate programs in the department.
The successful candidate will have expertise in environmental chemistry with additional interdisciplinary research interests in health sciences. We encourage applicants interested in emerging and interdisciplinary areas at the interface of environmental chemistry and health sciences research to apply. Research experience applied within the search for disease biomarkers at the system level is considered an asset. The successful candidate will also be expected to build strong collaborative connections with the new Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH).
